Fogarty Finger partnered with the non-profit sports-based youth development organization to develop the interiors, signage, and branding elements within their new home in the Major R. Owens Health & Wellness Community Center, previously known as Brooklyn’s Bedford Union Armory.
The process involved engaging local makers and artists to bring the space to life and honor the historic Crown Heights neighborhood and community. Turning the 114-year-old Crown Heights armory into a welcoming community center with basketball courts, classrooms and offices, and allowing an expansion of programming for thousands of underserved youth and families and bringing the space to life in a rich and unique way.
Inspire Ascension – as soon as the student-athletes walked through the doors and up the stairs, we want them to feel empowered and inspired to be their best selves and know that this is a space where they are always encouraged and supported.

Collaborating with Noble Signs to recreate the gilded signage techniques that were used throughout the space in the early 1900s, allowed us to honor the history of the armory.
The Community Artist Collective kicked off with a Fireplace Series involving several local artists selected through a submission process to paint a mural on a fireplace within the Bedford Union Armory. The completed murals infuse the classrooms and student areas with life and inspiration.
